What is the length of the warranty?
Radiant Systems mats and film products are guaranteed to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of 15 years from the date of purchase when the product has been installed in accordance with the directions.
What types of flooring may be used with Radiant Systems mats and film?
Mats are perfect for placement under tile, marble, slate, ceramic, laminate and engineered wood floors. Film is an excellent choice for installation under engineered wood, laminates and tile.
Can I add this to a current circuit or does it require a separate circuit?
We strongly recommend that a separate dedicated electrical circuit be used for supplying power to the system.
How close do I place the Ideal mats to one another, a wall, or toilet?
Mats should be placed 2 inches from one another and six inches from the toilet wax ring and four inches from walls. Never overlap the heating mats.
What wire gauge is required if I need to extend my power lead?
THHN 14 gauge AWG is required for a load of 15 amps, when splicing the wires use heat shrink butt splice connectors. However always check local codes.
What temperature will my floor be?
Radiant floors should not exceed 85 degrees F. 85 degrees is our normal skin temperature so anything beyond that can feel too warm. Typically laminate and wood floor coverings require a Max temperature of 80 degrees F.
Where do most people put radiant floors?
Kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, and three season rooms are most common but radiant floors can be used almost anywhere.
What voltage do I need?
Radiant Systems mats and film are both available in 120 V and 220 V for larger areas.
What makes Radiant Systems mats different from other mats?
Most mats use a small round cable, while our mats use crystalline ribbon technology which has a higher resistance than wire allowing the floor to warm up faster. Also, energy transfer from heating elements is proportional to its surface area, since the surface area of the ribbon is relatively large compared to conventional wire used in other mats; it is able to efficiently transfer heat to its environment.
How many mats can be connected to one thermostat?
You can connect 150 square feet of 120V or 300 square feet of 220V to one UDG-4999 or UTN-4991 thermostat available from Radiant Systems.
